After a series of meetings and presentations, the Cross River State Carnival Commission on-behalf of the Government of Cross River State, have signed an agreement with a Lagos based marketing consulting firm, Promotional & Innovation Synergy Limited, as the lead marketing company for the carnival this year.
The MoU which was signed on Thursday, June 14, 2018 in Calabar gives the marketing company an exclusive responsibility of leading the sponsorship and marketing drive for the 14th edition of the Calabar Carnival and Festival.
According to the Chairman, Cross River State Carnival Commission, Mr. Gabe Onah, “His Excellency, Prof. Ben Ayade believes in the private sector that is why we are creating a new thinking to create that necessary sustainability that the private sector will bring into the Carnival.”
“This MoU signing is in line with the governor’s economic dream of turning the Carnival into a self-sustaining and revenue generating platform, so it is enough food for everyone to come onboard”, Mr. Onah said.
The Principal Partner, Promotional & Innovation Synergy Limited, Mr. Emmanuel Agweye, in his remarks shortly after the signing thanked the Governor of Cross River State, Prof. Ben Ayade and the Carnival Commission for giving them the opportunity to be part of this event.
“it is an honour for us to serve in this capacity, we are here to broaden the sponsorship base of the Carnival Calabar and Festival by improving the investment attractiveness of the brand while working with the existing companies on ground and attracting new ones,” Mr. Agweye said.
He also thanked the Commission for growing the carnival brand to the admiration of the world and promised to key into the already existent offerings of the carnival to give it a bigger, better and bolder experience this year.
The theme for the 2018 Carnival “Africanism” was unveiled last week in Calabar.
The theme seeks to tell the African story from the African perspective and bring the global attention to the plight of Africa. With the Carnival, 5 competing bands are expected to tell the African story through creativity.
