Afterschool Centre for Career Development (formerly known as Afterschool Peer Mentoring Project) is pleased to announce the winners of the Inaugural Edition of the #ShowYourSkillsCampaign Photo Contest.
Launched as part of the inaugural United Nations World Youth Skills Day held on July 15th 2015, the #ShowYourSkillsCampaign sought to generate greater awareness on the relevance of skills development comprising core skills, technical and vocational skills as well as highlight the place of skills acquisition in driving youth employability and entrepreneurship in Africa.
The Campaign is hinged on the fact that skills continually drive the labour market and the future of work for both local and global economies and the need for young people in Africa to position themselves accordingly.
Lead by an Independent Audit Committee, the selection process of the Contest witnessed screening of entries from 17 African countries including Mozambique, Senegal, Zimbabwe, South Sudan, Rwanda, Botswana, Kenya Nigeria and Madagascar.
The Winners of the contest include:
- Olalekan Sipasi, Agricultural Entrepreneur, Nigeria
- Rosoamiaramanana Fanny, Pouffe Designer, Madagascar
- Grace Iso, Baker/Sugar Craft Artist, Nigeria
- Hilda Shangotola, Fruit Artist , Nigeria
- Oyindamola Johnson, Musician/Sound Engineer, Nigeria/South Africa
The winners of the campaign will win an all- expense paid trip to Cape Town, South Africa in march 2016, Scholarships to attend entrepreneurship courses, Feature Interview in international/national newspapers, Feature interview on a Continent Wide TV Show and other prizes.
