The Graduate Employability Training for Women is an initiative of The Bridge Leadership Foundation, a non-profit Leadership and community development Foundation located in Calabar, Cross River State, Nigeria. Primarily the Foundation offers a leadership, enterprise and employability training for young people with seasoned facilitators. The Graduate Employability Training was born out of the vision to create a paradigm shift for young people within the local communities and cities of the South-South region of Nigeria and ultimately impacting young Nigerians nationally and regionally.
The 2016 graduate employability training will focus mainly on young women and will highlight the goal and objectives of the Foundation which is geared at empowering young people with skills that would make them employable in the current highly competitive Nigerian labour market.
Our edge lies in the fact that unemployed young women will; be equipped with the skills required to excellently deliver in the workplace, develop workplace and personal ethics, be enhanced with entrepreneurial skills and innovative business ideas and promote networking and opportunity sharing among these young women.
Since its inception, the Graduate Employability Training has inspired innovative ideas among its over 400 Alumni, 80 from each batch of Graduate, the training has churned out in the past five edition, with wonderful success stories emerging from of it.
The sixth batch of the Graduate Employability Training is scheduled to hold from Monday, April 4 – Friday, April8, 2016 in Calabar. The one week training program has been designed basically for young female graduates in Nigeria, who are faced with challenges related to gender and often have to reconcile their own dreams with expectations of what they “should be.” Despite the current wave of globalization which has greatly improved the lives of women worldwide, particularly the lives of women in the Nigeria, young women in Nigeria still remain disadvantaged in many areas of life, including education, employment, health, and civil rights.
The programme is scheduled to attract 80 young women who are aspiring to be entrepreneurs, to learn from accomplished female entrepreneurs and professionals who have made major achievements in different sectors of the society.
