The office of the Special Assistant to the Governor of Cross River State on Student Affairs and Youth Mobilization is partnering a Kenyan based educational non-governmental organization – ‪#‎Fahamu to deepen educational research, writing and policy formulation in Cross River State and Nigeria.

This partnership was sealed on July 1st, 2016 after a meeting at Governor’s Office, Calabar with their implementing partners in Nigeria ‪#‎VoiceOfReason represented by Mr. Ubio Daniel, Miss Blessing Izirein and Miss Ofre Vivian.

#Fahamu has launched her ‪#‎Uhodari project, a student proposal writing competition which is open to students in tertiary institutions in ‪#‎Nigeriaand across ‪#‎Africa.

Students are free to write their proposal/essay on any of these ten themes:

Leadership and governance; Religious fundamentalism and culture; Agriculture and good sovereignty and security; Access to capital and starting small businesses; Environmental conservation and climate change; Education and professional training; Citizenship and right to nationality; Role of peace and security in development; Migration and Africans in diaspora and finally, the use of technology as a tool for innovation and employment creation.

Five winners will be selected from Nigeria to win $2000 USD worth of prices, travel and educational opportunities. Interested students are to submit their application to

Deadline for application is 25th July, 2016 while proposal presentation and winners in Nigeria will be declared on the 30th of July, 2016 at the Chemistry Auditorium of the University of Calabar.

The interesting component of this exercise is that no idea is wasted as all the entries will be collated into a document for policy formulation in partnership with relevant institutions and organizations within the state and across the federation.
