The University of Calabar Enactus Team are set to make history as they join over 40 federal institutions in Nigeria to showcase the innovative and entrepreneurship action undertaken in their local communities.
To this effect, the team conducted an in-house session to rate, evaluate and ascertain it’s level of preparedness as the National Enactus competition draws near.
The in-house session serves as a litmus test for the upcoming National Enactus competition scheduled to hold on the 24th and 25th of July, in Lagos, Nigeria. The UNICAL team is set to make history at the event.
Enactus as a non-profit organisation focuses on the positive power of business, entrepreneurial action and social innovation to address the most important issues affecting the world.
The platform unites young people in tertiary institutions globally, engaging them in entrepreneurial activities in their local communities, impacting the society as change agents who take action.The forum also celebrates diversity of culture, abundance of ideas and the synergy of cross-generational leadership.
The Enactus World Cup shares insights, fuels innovation and drives global impact and real progress in key areas which align with the framework of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The energy created when business leaders and influencers intersect with students fuels experience, motivates personal change and drives new ideas in the younger generation.
45 federal Universities in Nigeria will slog it out in the National competition, with 36 member countries also participating in the competition. The best overall team will advance to represent the country at the Enactus World competition.
The finals are qualified from over 72,000 University students down to the 36 countries with each team having 17 minutes to showcase their projects of entrepreneurship action that are not only making a difference in the world, but have the momentum to create new careers, spark business innovation and deliver fresh energy for social impact.
The World Cup is billed to hold from 9th-11th of October in San Jose, California, USA.
Enactus partners leading corporate organisations and member universities, establishing student programs on campuses around the world with the support of their Faculty Advisors and Local Business Advisory Board, with the view of deploying entrepreneurial action to improve human condition and sustainable human progress.
