The paradise city of Calabar, capital of Cross River State, has been announced as the city to host the 2015 edition of the region’s most celebrated crown-Face of Niger Delta.
The announcement was made by the event progenitor- Kelly Godwin Attah, while speaking to journalists in Port Harcourt over the weekend, this is following the earlier announced date initially made public on social media.
Face of Niger Delta is a part of the weeklong event activities lined up for Niger Delta Festival of Arts & Culture which will run from Tuesday, December 1st till 5th with the theme ’Our Culture Our Destiny’.
Kelly said; ‘the choice of Calabar for the festival is not far-fetched; the state has over the years maintained a high reputation of hospitality in Africa. It has also remained on top of the chart when it comes to rich cultural heritage and as a choice tourism destination’.
He said the one week postponement is to enable his team at GoldHouse Production International prepare adequately to host troupes from the 9 states that make up the region, following the event’s re-branding to become a Festival.
“Through Face of Niger Delta 2015 and Niger Delta Festival of Arts & Culture, we are inviting Niger Delta and the world to come and discover Calabar, just as the state prepares for the annual Christmas Festival”, Kelly stated.
