The soon to be built Cross River garment factory has the capacity to boost the entertainment and tourism industries in the state, the Speaker, Cross River State House of Assembly, CRSHA, Rt. Hon John Gaul Lebo made this assertion while playing host to the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN), Cross River State Chapter in his office recently.
The Speaker stated that the garment factory when fully completed will produce world class costumes for both the music and tourism industries, adding that the factory will be positioned to meet the expectations of the fashion industry as well.
He further disclosed that a tourism investment bill that will help to strengthen the entertainment industry, encourage local content and boost economic activities in the state is underway.
He advised PMAN to create more activities through a comprehensive entertainment calendar that will not only keep the association busy year round but will also help in discovering more talents for the state.
In his address, the Chairman of PMAN Cross River State chapter, Mr Effiom Trombone, urged the House of Assembly to enact a law that will provide 30% opportunity for home grown artists to feature in state and national entertainment programmes holding in the State, stressing that such law when put in place will strongly encourage local content and young artists.
