Just when we thought nothing new can come out of Calabar, something different and exciting pops up!!
@WeeShotit, a reputable photography and event outfit in Nigeria with support from British Council (www.britishcouncil.org.ng), United Kingdom’s international organization for cultural relations brings presents ‘The Calabar Photography and Art Calabash’
This event is part of a UK/Nigeria 2015/16 season of arts collaboration aimed at providing high and quality arts as well as showcasing cultural events in Calabar.
The Calabar Photography and Art Calabash event is the first of its kind and would be a two day event designed to merge photography, art and other art related entertainment thus creating a unique blend of visual art and performing arts.
The 2-day event scheduled to hold from November 26 – 27, 2016 will feature the following components;
CALABAR PHOTO WALK
this will be a campaign walk for anybody with a Camera regardless of make and level of photographer’s professionalism (DSLR, Point and shoot, phone camera, etc). During this fun 2.5km walk, participants would be required to take as many random photos as they can with any of their devices. Call it a mini Carnival for photo lovers. The best photos would win prizes.
This is where the art lovers and enthusiasts get involved. Painting materials would be provided and people could come try their hands out on some drawing and painting regardless of the participant’s level of expertise. There would be some experienced artists to support. This fun event would hold, in the heart of Calabar, amidst music performances and in a picnic style.
ART / PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION
This will be a classy photography and art exhibition lasting whole day. Different works of art from various top artists and photographers would be on display around the hall.
CREATIVE VARIETY NIGHT
This evening would comprise of multiple related activities merged into one to round up the event which will include Dance, Drama, Music, Comedy, Mini Fashion Show, Talks and more.
It’s going to be a pack of fun squeezed into two days.
