Cross River State Commissioner for Finance, Asuquo Ekpenyong has finally cleared the air on the persistent media speculations of nursing an ambition for office in 2023.
The Commissioner made the clarification on Monday in Calabar while speaking with journalists at a news briefing in his office.
He said, “As we are, I have no intention to vie for office in 2023. Let it be clear; if you can allow me to do the work on my table I will be glad to do and I will be happy that I have added my contribution to Cross River State government and thereafter go back to my private sector practice".
Ekpenyong lamented that it is quite unfortunate that at this time of global economic slow down the media focus is on 2023 politics instead of reviewing government policies to cushion the effect of economic downturns on the people.
He added that his desire as a technocrat is to focus on delivering the job at hand without any political distractions.
