Reigning Miss Africa Queen Irene Ng’endo Mukii alongside the Miss Africa Calabar organizing team paid a courtesy visit to the Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) to seek endorsement and partnership towards the All-East Africa Casting/Concert taking place on the 27th of September in Nairobi, Kenya.
Briefing the members of the Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) at the meeting which had the MD/CEO, Betty Radier, represented by Fred Okeyo, Acting Director of Marketing, Anne Kanini, Senior Public Relations Officer and Alex Tunoi, Manager in charge of Africa and domestic affairs.
The Senior Special Assistant Events and Tourism, Mr. Thomas Ikpeme extended His Excellency, Governor of Cross River State, Prof. Ben Ayade’s warmest regards and went ahead to give a brief history of the Miss Africa pageant which is part of the Calabar Festival that takes place every December in Calabar with the Carnival, bikers parade, international band carnival and other iconic events that have made Cross River State, laden with beautiful waterfalls and resorts the number one tourism destination in Nigeria.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Thomas Ikpeme noted that as the road to Miss Africa 2020 has begun the organisation is seeking an endorsement and partnership towards the successful All East Africa casting scheduled to hold on September 27th, 2020 in Nairobi, Kenya. It is also important to note that the East Africa casting will bring together all the countries in the region to compete for a place in the grand finale taking place in Calabar on December 27th, 2020. It is already tagged to be the biggest Entertainment/Tourism event in the East Africa region. Mr Thomas Ikpeme also highlighted various ways the relationship will benefit both parties.
The KTB team appreciated the team for bringing such a laudable project to them because unlike other pageants, Miss Africa themes have been used to raise awareness on the issues affecting Africa and also the empowerment of the African woman using the Queen as a voice to drive the process referring to the past themes namely Climate change, Migration, Africanism and Humanity. The KTB team intimated the team in various ways they would like to be part of the event and are looking forward to a positive and profitable collaboration with the Miss Africa organisation.
After further deliberations, both teams will go back and conclude modalities that will bring forth one of the greatest collaborations between West Africa and East Africa in recent times.
Also present at the meeting included the Senior Special Assistant, Web and Social Media, Events Department, Mathias Amgbah, Femi Oyelade, Brand Manager Miss Africa and Chuks Okafor , Video director for Miss Africa organisation and Mr Marlon of Swaga Inc. and marketing representative for Miss Africa in Kenya.
