The State Governor, His Excellency, Sir Ben Ayade in a recent press release of political appointments approved the appointment of Mr. Victor Bassey Effiong as the Special Assistant, Cross River Safety Commission.
This appointment has been described by many as a perfect example of a round peg in a round hole as Mr. Victor Bassey Effiong, is no novice to the Safety industry.
He is a seasoned safety professional who comes onboard with over 15 year’s active working experience in the health and occupational safety sector.
Prior to this appointment, he was the Regional Health and Safety Consultant south-south zone for China’s biggest construction company in Nigeria, CCECC/CRCC.
He also worked as Rig Safety Coordinator for Axis Petro Consultant between 2012 and 2013.
He was Safety Officer at the third largest cement plant in Nigeria, United Cement Company of Nigeria (UNICEM) now Larfarge Africa between 2008 to 2012 and was pioneer Senior Safety Advisor for Orascom Construction Industries between 2006 to 2008.
Mr. Effiong holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Anatomy from the University of Calabar and has completed training in OSH from Academy Education and Training center Portland, Oregon USA.
He holds an International general certificate in occupational health and safety (NEBOSH) London and high grade professional certifications from the Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria.
He is a member of many professional bodies, some of which include the American Institute of safety professionals, International Association of Safety professionals, Institute of safety professionals of Nigeria, amongst others.
Due to his passion for service and leadership, Victor started his political career as a pioneer youth leader PDP Uyanga ward, Akamkpa LGA where he demonstrated capacity in the field and ensured PDP won in all elections in his ward.
