It was all smiles and cheers on Friday 5th October 2017 at the headquarters of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Person’s (NAPTIP) as the Miss Africa organization and NAPTIP agreed to a partnership and endorsement deal.
NAPTIP is a Federal Government of Nigeria agency responsible in addressing the scourge of trafficking in persons and after series of discussions with the Miss Africa organization which has championed issues of climate change, migration and now Africanism in 2018 across Africa has decided to sponsor the event which holds on the 27th of December every year in the beautiful city of Calabar, Cross River State during the Christmas Festival/Carnival Calabar celebrations.
In his opening remarks, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Events and Tourism, Mr Thomas Ikpeme commended the Director General of the agency, Barr. Julie Okah-Dunli who has achieved a lot in her time as NAPTIP Boss. The partnership with Miss Africa could not have come at a better time to fight the scourge of irregular migration in Africa and gave his assurance of support from the Governor of Cross River State, Prof Ben Ayade who is very passionate about the future of young people across Africa.
The D.G, Barr. Julie Okah-Dunli thanked the delegation from Cross River State as the partnership is long overdue. Her passion is what drives her to succeed and afforded her recognition globally for the agency’s initiatives. She said the collaboration and work with the Miss Africa Queen Gaseangwe Balopi and the organization will amplify our voices on the Ills of irregular migration and use the internet to spread the word and continue tackling trafficking in Nigeria.
