On October 1st 2015, young professionals in Calabar gathered to celebrate the nations 55th Independence Anniversary in a unique way, with the Shapers Connect Event held at Monty Suites, Calabar.

Organised by the Global Shapers Community, Calabar Hub, the shapers connect is a networking meeting for young professionals in the state with the aim of reaching out to community members and intimating them on the activities of the Hub in the State.

The event had in attendance a mix of young professionals from diverse fields and was a good extension of the online experience, providing a face-to-face forum for networking and discussions amongst young professionals in Calabar.

For us @CalabarBlog, we had the opportunity of meeting first-time, strong social media influencers in the likes of Pamela Braide, Esther Eshiet, Christine Edet, Grace Ihejiamaizu, David Nyong and many others.

Highpoint of the event was a speech delivered  by the guest speaker, Dr. (Mrs.) Christine Edet on ‘Deepening Your Impact’ she charged young professional to join the wagon of positivity that Nigeria is blessed, be passionate with what they do and never allow their background place them back on the ground.‪

There was a brilliant interactive session with young and innovative minds. And of course, there was plenty to eat and drink. It was indeed an evening well spent.

Congratulations to the Organisers for putting such a wonderful event together and getting it right, we hope to see more of it.
